Trier is not the world's most famous place for eating out but nevertheless you can find a lot of nice restaurants here! Don`t forget to order some german beer (in Trier locals normally drink Bitburger), one of the famous local white wines (from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer) or even Viez (have a look at the wine!). However, Trier has a number of good restaurants, often with a delightful view (as the Weisshaus) or in historical surroundings (as the Kesselstatt, the Brunnenhof, or the Central-Hotel restaurants).

A fascinating menu is offered in the Domstein restaurant opposite the Cathedral: Eating like the Romans did. The top restaurants in Trier are the restaurant in the Dorint Hotel opposite the Porta Nigra and the Pfeffermühle next to the Zurlauben docks. Besides this you will find a lot of rather good pizzerias, Chinese restaurants and original Trierish restaurants. Very popular student restaurants are the ASTARIX, the Schwach&Sinn or the Textorium inside the Tuchfabrik.
