The river Mosel, in ancient times known under the Latin name "Mosella", is since 2000 years the artery - in many ways - of the whole region. The Mosel and it's people are mentioned by Cesar as well as by Ausonius who has dedicated the lyrics "Mosella" to this region.
Still today it is a very popular touristic point of interest, both because of the beauty of the hills and for the taste of the famous Mosel wines.
