Cycling along the Rhine

Possessing an extensive network of bicycle lanes extending right into the city centre, Cologne can easily be explored on two wheels. What about taking a cycling tour along the Rhine? Bicycles can be hired at the Rheinpegel (water-depth gauge) in the Old City.

Anyone attending one of the local swimming baths should be prepared for some unusual "side-shows" taking place at the edge of the pool; for example, you may find yourself celebrating an "Italian Week" under the motto "Una festa in piscina - aqua e musica". By staging a series of such events and concerts, the municipal pools authority, KölnBäder GmbH, is hoping entice more landlubbers into the water at any one of their 11 indoor pools, three so-called combi-pools, an open-air pool and four natural pools. All the paths and rambler's trails are also suitable for joggers. Particularly popular are the routes along the river. Inline-Skating Around the Local Lakes

To address the growing number of locals residents and visitors (of all ages) are taking up inline-skating as a leisure pursuit, many organized sports clubs have begun by offering skating tours - for example, around the Fühlinger Lake.

My most favorite place in the evening was the Hyatt Regency across the rhine river from the cathedral. You can sit outside and look across the river and the lights reflect on the water surface.
