Shopping in Salzgitter

When the younger Salzgitter residents feel like making a shopping spree, they usually prefer the larger cities like Wolfenbüttel, Braunschweig or Hannover. For smaller purchases however, like a pair of shoes or a T-shirt, they stay in Salzgitter-Bad or Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.

In down-town Lebenstedt, in the Fischzug and In den Blumentriften , there are various little shopping arcades with mainstream shops, where you can get shoes, clothing, lingerie, jewelry and more.
When you come from the trainstation you will first pass the cinema and the " Citytorcenter " (on the right). A little farther on there is the " Créteil-Passage " on the right and the " Stadtpassage " on the left. If you walk on in direction to the city-hall, you will pass a C&A store.
If you get hungry you can make a stop at one of the various little cafés and more..

Generations of Salzgitter children have stood in front of the little store's shop-windows, that are crammed with toys, and begged their unnerved parents for this fire-truck or that barbie-doll.
Bellsdorf is stocked from floor up to the ceiling with all imaginable kind of toys and has a kind of old-fashioned charme. It has been in the same place for more than 30 years and has survived in spite of all department stores' competition. Have a look, and you will feel like transported back to you own childhood!
