Bad Bentheim Travel Guide

Bad Bentheim is a spa resort ("Kurort") just across the border at Oldenzaal in the Netherlands. It is an old town with a castle that dominates the view. The town itself - apart from the castle is not really interesting. It does have a nice open-air theatre in summer, however.

It also has a spa area (Kurpark) and has some of the most beautiful and most extended forested area in Germany. The water of the hot springs in the Kurpark contain sulfur, and are said to have a healing effect on - among other things - skin diseases. 

Bad Bentheim is very popular with Dutch tourists, who make tours from there into the Teutoberg Forest (Teutoberger Wald) and cities like Münster and Osnabrück.
