Sights in Wiesbaden
Edit ThisWiesbaden Sights are unforgettable during travels in Germany. Like other parts of Germany, there is a great effort to showcase history, tradition, and culture. Most people who know about Weisbaden already know about the spas, which even the Romans knew about 2000 years ago, but there is a quite a bit more to discover in Weisbaden. There are the historical snapshots of Weisbaden available from the past 200 years. There are also great buildings to see both within the city and on the Taunus hills surrounding it.
Neroberg
This is an absolute must-see for any visit to Weisbaden. Neroberg is actually a proper hill and is just under 250 meters tall, but is within the city limits. It is a popular place for relaxing even for the residents of Weisbaden. But it is more than just relaxing. You can take a nature hike. This is probably the only place where you went in search of nature within the city itself. You definitely should visit the Russian church. Of course with this elevation, you are going to get one of the best views of the city. You should also try the Funicular Railway, which takes you to the top of the hill. This train is unique. It was built in 1888 and is completely powered by the weight of the water and gravity. It will take you to a height of 80 meters, covering nearly half a km. It runs every 15 minutes but only operates between April and October, so you definitely need to plan on traveling to Weisbaden during that time.
Buildings
There is a greater variety of buildings in Weisbaden, from a historical standpoint, than in most German cities. The reason for that is the city has been the center of transformations, complete destruction, and total rebuilding throughout its existence. So even though this place has been in existence for the past 2000 years, the oldest structure in the city is only from about the 15th century. But what is there is quite remarkable. The Kurhaus, which was built by Freidrich Von Thiersch around the 20th century is a remarkable structure in Neo-classical style. The New Town Hall, which is on the southeastern side of the Schlossplatz was built in the last part of the 19th century and is also worth viewing.
The Casino
It is definitely worth visiting. Not just from a stand point of having a little fun at the tables, but some remarkable sights such as the spa house await you here.
