Shopping in Wiesbaden
Edit ThisIf you love shopping, you're in luck: Wiesbaden shopping has it all, for the serious shopaholic and the window shopper alike. When visiting Wiesbaden and looking for great places to go shopping, try one of these areas:
Wilhelmstrasse
Over 130 stores line what is colloquially known as "Rue" or "Designer Street," one of the hottest areas on the Weisebaden shopping scene. More than 1/3 of the boutiques here sell exclusive and designer brands of clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories and beauty products. This street is a sight itself, with beautiful architecture and a row of elegant trees that make walking from store to store a treat for the eyes. If you need to pamper yourself even more, stop by a spa at the end of the street.
Because the shops are rather upscale, the prices are on the high end, too. However, if you devote yourself to browsing, you're sure to find great deals on name-brand designs as well as unique gifts at affordable prices.
Taunusstrasse
Right next to the Wilhelmstrasse is the Taunusstrasse, a mecca for antique lovers in Wiesbaden. The entire area is known for the antique shops, although you'll also find a number of modern furnishings stores. The Taunusstrasse area is also popular for delis, pubs and restaurants, so it makes an idea place for a break if you're shopping in the area.
The antiques can get a little pricey, but you'll be surprised at what you can find in the shops, so you may be able to take home a pretty affordable deal. Furnishings stores charge average prices and can ship your purchases home for you.
Farmers' Market
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the center of the city is home to a Farmers' Market, where you'll be able to purchase fresh-grown produce and other foods for incredibly low prices. You may find a few more artisan handicrafts as well. If you can't take the food home with you, try the fresh fruit and vegetables, which are unlike anything you'll find back home. If the place you're staying has a kitchenette, you can always try cooking a meal yourself, too.
Lilien-Carré Shopping Center
Perhaps the closest thing to a "mall"--but so much more elegant than your typical mall--in Wiesbaden is the Lilien-Carré Shopping Center. Located right next to the main train station, this indoor, two-storey shopping complex was built in 2007 and features 280 square feet of retail stores, including H&M, Yves Rocher and Ulla Popken.
Prices are similar to any other mall, ranging from incredibly cheap to somewhat pricey. Lilien-Carré also makes a great destination for shopping when the weather is inclement, as most other shopping options involve a lot of outdoor walking.
