Getting Around in Wiesbaden
Edit ThisWiesbaden transportation is quite simple because of the relative small size of this German city. Here are a couple of tips to consider when getting around Wiesbaden.
Getting around by Foot
Once you arrive to the the historic center of Wiesbaden, it is fine just to walk around. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and wear sunblock during the summer. The pedestrian area ('Fussgaengerzone' in German) is like an open-air mall, where you can experience several small shops, cafes, restaurants and bars along the street. Another great zone to walk around is the 'Old City' ('Altstadt' in German).
Getting around by Bus
The bus system of Weisbaden is the most effective way to get around the city. The bus's schedule is well planned and it runs on time. Tickets can be purchased at the bus from the driver. Depending on the length of your trip, your one-way ticket will cost between 1.40 to 2.20 euros. Make sure to learn the correct pronunciation of your street so that the driver can understand you. If you're planning to use the bus frequently, it is a good idea to purchase either a daily (5.50 euros for adults and 3.25 for children under 14 years old) or weekly (19 euros for adults) pass. The main advantage of getting a monthly bus pass is that one adult guest or several children (under 14 years of age) ride for free on weeknights after 7:00 pm.
