Medieval Torture Museum
This museum located at Oberstrasse is spread over an area of 1000m2 gives an insight into how people were tortured and killed in the middle ages. This museum houses 144 medieval instruments of torture like knee screws, breast talons, iron lock jaw, thumb screws, head presses and many more which were used to torture prisoners. There are drawings, etchings and other material which gives information about torture, witches, belief in witchcraft and lots more. This museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm from Good Friday to end of October. Between Novembers to Good Friday, it is open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm. Visitors have to pay entry fee in Euros and if you need directions or guided tours, you need to pay extra.
Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett or Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments
The Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, located at Oberstrasse is home to rare and interesting musical instruments of 18th to 20th century. There are about 350 musical instruments on display, ranging from the simple to the most elaborate providing an insight into music and how it was played during earlier times. This museum is open from March to December between 10am to 6pm. They offer guided tours in various languages and have special facilities for the disabled.
Rheingau Wine Museum
This museum also known as the Bromserburg and Rheingau wine museum is located in Rudesheim on the banks of River Rhine. It is home to about 2000 wine related exhibits and you can get detailed information about the history of wine making. Apart from information about wines, there is a local history museum which displays a spectacular collection of glasses. Visitors can get a taste of different wines on the terrace of this castle. This museum is open from March to November from 9am to 6pm with last admission being at 5.15pm. Rudesheim has a line up of different museums, sufficient to satify people with varying tastes and likings.
