Edit This

Make your way across Bremen as you duck in and out of various specialty stores and boutiques. This beautiful German town offers a host of shopping opportunities, with everything from high end promenades to flea markets filling the city center.

Böttcherstrasse – Although Böttcherstrasse and the surrounding region houses its fair share of upscale restaurants and revered museums, it’s primarily known for its stores. In fact, this charming 1931 lane remains one of the most popular shopping districts in all of Bremen. Situated near the city center’s Marktplatz and boasting extraordinary Art Noveau styling, Böttcherstrasse plays host to a series of chic specialty shops, including jewelry stores, antique dealers and silversmiths.

Schnoor – Situated in the midst of the city center, Schnoor features a maze of shop-filled alleyways and streets. Many of the stores here are of the boutique variety and feature quality but affordable goods made by locals. A host of specialty shops pack the area enabling you to find everything from jewelry and clothes to African artifacts. Get in the holiday spirit by visiting the year-round Christmas Shop, drop by Rapunzel to pick up some souvenirs of your visit to Bremen or purchase a stuffed bear for a child in your life at Barenhaus.

Flea Markets – Make your way to the Schlactel and Weser promenade each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Burgerweide on Sundays, in order to explore Weserflohmarkt, the city’s finest flea market. Perched along the banks of the Weser River, hundreds of stalls line the area. Great bargains can be found, particularly locally made goods, and some entrepreneurs may even be interested in haggling with tourists.

Shopping Thoroughfares – Obernstrasse, Sögestrasse, Knochenhauerstrasse, Hutfilterstrasse and Am Wall all reign supreme as Bremen’s truly high end shopping districts. These streets reside in the heart of the city, many within walking distance to one another. Most of these streets play host to exclusive clothing stores. Obernstrasse also houses Karstadt, the city’s largest department store complete with restaurants and an enormous music section. Meanwhile Fedelhören serves as the perfect destination for art lovers, as the street sits lined with galleries offering artwork available for purchase. Fedelhören features scores of antique shops, as well.

Lloyd-Passage - This truly stunning arcade features the largest glass roof in the city. Tourists can find reasonably priced clothes and shoes, yet nothing extremely unusual or unique. Positioned directly near Obernstrasse and Sögestrasse, it’s worth a visit just to take in the interior design and lively public performances.
