The Foundation has the task of preserving the memory of Willy Brandt`s political accomplishments and to honor his lifelong commitment for peace, freedom, and the unity of the German people, for safeguarding democracy in Europe and in the Third World, for the unification of Europe and for the reconciliation of nations. Within the framework of its educational responsibilities the Foundation seeks to contribute to the understanding of the history of the 20th century and of the development of the Federal Republic of Germany.
