Senior Travel in Berlin

Edit This

There are many advantages to taking your next vacation in one of Europe's great cities, the German capital Berlin. Senior travel in Berlin has some advantages and disadvantages. A huge city, Berlin is filled with things to do and see, and will definitely provide enough entertainment for any traveler. It is also a city with a rich history, making it a very worthwhile destination to see and learn about some of the historically significant things that have happened here. One of the downsides to staying in a big, active city, particularly for senior travelers, is that it can be somewhat difficult to get around and more intimidating than staying in, say, a tropical resort. Fortunately, Berlin has one of the world's leading public transportation systems, which does help the tourist, young or old, to safely get where they want to go.

Getting Around

Berlin is an enormous city, with roughly 4.5 million people in its metropolitan area alone, so it is truly a blessing that there is a great public transportation system in place. The principal means to get around in Berlin are by train, underground, bus and tram. The trams tend to be found in what was formerly known as East Berlin. All of the public transportation is reliable, affordable and relatively easy to use, although it may be a good idea to buy a good map to aid you, particularly if you don't speak or read German. For senior travelers who don't feel comfortable or are unable to take public transport, Berlin has plenty of taxis and rates tend to be a little lower than in other major European cities.

Things to See

If you are a senior traveler who has chosen Berlin as your destination, it is a fair guess that you enjoy sightseeing as a principle part of your vacation. Berlin has plenty to offer here. Try and check out some of the great museums in the city, documenting everything from famous European art to the history of Berlin and the Nazi regime of World War II. Berlin also has some art galleries that are well worth seeing, such as the Art Center Berlin Friedrichstrabe , and the Galerie Eigen & Art. There are also famous historical buildings to see, like the German Parliament Building, the Reichstag, and the beautiful church the Berliner Dom. If you start to feel overwhelmed or worn out by all the sightseeing, stop by one of Berlin's many spas, like the Adlon Day Spa, a top of the line spa that offers everything from hairstyling to massage and acupuncture.
