There are partys every Saturday night in An einem Sonntag im August in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. This is new since July 2006. Always a different DJ and always a lot of alcohol. Klo DJ  April Day, if you like to dance then get 10 people together, go there, and start the party. Samstags im Sonntag. Thursdays is usually live music. Entrance is Free.

Trespassers

Cozy bar with a extensive collection of homemade vodkas which are legendary. A small inquiry will be in any case worth your while. A wide range of wines from smaller vineyard, homemade food, mainly russian. Wireless internet connection is free. No registration rigmarole. Sitting around and sipping a rum or a coffee with your laptop is possible at all times. Touristic support is offered to customers from abroad.

Knaack-Klub

Luxus Bar

Luxus Bar is tucked away not far from the pubs at the water tower, but it offers another kind of idyll in contrast to their collective cosiness. The walls are covered with Spanish tiles and an aquarium above the bar emits a dim light. The atmosphere is relaxed, even if there's sometimes a Wagner opera echoing through the small room. People come here late and round off their evening nicely with decent red wine or gin and tonic, daily from 8pm.

"An einem Sonntag im August...."

A student café that's nice in every season and on every weekday -cheap buffets mornings and evenings (student buffet 9am -4pm, evening banquet buffet 6pm -1am, 5DM!) The café also offers events e.g. Th -literary reading, Erotic stories for the night, which seem to take as encouragement.

Kulturbrauerei

There are still a lot of new things at this former brewery. An established venue for culture and definately worth visiting, the Kulturbrauerei is organised in three sections each featuring parties or theatre. Concerts in the Kesselhaus, always big party at Sa from 10pm. Alte Kantine always dancing and in The Gallery has Russian theatre, Gallery We-Fr 4pm -8pm, Alte Kantine almost every day from 10pm, Kesselhaus various times admission: Kantine 5DM, Kesselhaus 10-18DM.

The place for crypties and other fans of ghouls and ghosts -but there's also something for alternative types. Mo: Gothic-dark wave, Tu: '60s +'70s, W: electronic freestyle, Th: concerts (crossover), Fr: Brit pop, Sa: independent club music. Su-Th from 10pm, Fr-Sa from 11pm -open end, normally We closed, admission: 5-15DM.

AKBA Lounge

A cocktailbar with club at the weekend (Fr+Sa 10DM) -a mix of music from the '70s, '80s, and '90s, is played to put you in a good mood.

Eckstein

Light, dependable café, usually pretty full -one of the biggest hits in the neighbourhood, especially in summer when there's stiff competition for one of the rare places in the sun. Mo-Th 9am -2am, Fr+Sa till 3am.

Transsilvania, Horror Rock Kafe

This type of pub has already been a wild succes in 18 Italian cities. Now the terror has arrived in Berlin. But it's only half as wild as it sounds -in the gravedigger's decor complete with coffins you can stage your own horror picture show to the accompaniment of sounds from past decades. Daily from 4.30pm.

Schwarzauer

A very popular place for tanking up in the neighbourhood scene and always full. In summer you find the crowds on the pavement outside, which is due to the masses of pubs and clubs in the area. After all, the main aim is to see and be seen. Daily 8am -6am.

Café und pension Amsterdam

Cult place, already multicultural and multisexual at breakfast time, changing DJs in the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. If you've drunk too much at night maybe you can get one of the rare beds in the attached guesthouse. Daily 9am -1am, guesthouse round the clock.

August Fengler

This cozy Prenzlauer Berg bar with fair drink prices and a back room dancefloor has different dj's every night of the week, ranging from salsa to soul, rock and funk.  We happened upon the indie rock/Britpop night on a recent Monday and found it a fun and liberal place to dance til the wee hours.  The dj Franz was also accomodating and played our requests (when he had the songs).
