Widely known for its distinct and divisional lines, the city of Berlin is on the forefront of both the future and the past. From a tourist point of view, the Bergs are the neighborhoods. Most westerners realize that in every major town in the US, there exist segmented and very distinct neighborhoods. The same applies for Germany, and Prenzlauer Berg is one of the most sought after vacation spots in all of Berlin.
The Prenzlauer Berg area is well-known for its clean and beautiful
streets and lovely architecture of the commercial as well as the
residential sector. With elegant window displays of the local artisans
and the glass boxes that are arranged in military type
precision and containing Hermes, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent or any
of the other fine perfumers of the world, Prenzlauer Berg is the
vacation spot of a lifetime. A family vacation that has Prenzlauer Berg
on its places of must-sees will definitely be one that will be recalled
throughout your entire life. Prenzlauer Berg is called the jewel of
Berlin.
The Wall Falls and the Celebration Continues
After East and West Germany reunited in 1990, Prenzlauer Berg
started to find its identity as a vacation destination spot. The
working class town, which was one of the most dynamic of all the war
machine manufacturing centers in both World War I and World War II, has
now become a shopper's paradise. The region is known as Mauerpark.
From the colorful and very interesting murals that adorn the business district of Prenzlauer Berg, to the quaint little coffee shops that line the streets, this neighborhood is a fantastic tourist destination. All of Germany is one of the best countries in Europe to visit since it's clean, safe and has such a vibrant and true to life history.
The Prenzlauer Berg family travel plans must include a stop at the
famous Prenzlauer Berg museum. Located in one of Berlin's oldest city
districts, the Prenzlauer Berg museum is home to some of the best and
brightest local artisans and other famous German born artists. The
tearing down of the Berlin Wall was seen as a turning point in the
political and sociological atmosphere of not only Germany, but also the
world. Come experience this feeling of liberation and what it actually
means to the residents of Berlin.
More Family Attractions
The Rykestrasse Synagogue is a must-visit with the family. This is the largest synagogue in Germany and dates a century back. The oldest water tower in Germany, the Wasserturm, is also located in Prenzlauer Berg. There are also homes of the people who operate the machinery under the tower, which is a great attraction to check out in the area.
