Books in Berlin
Edit ThisThe Berlin Eyewitness Travel Guide
Receiving high praise among many of the Berlin books available, this book promises to show travelers the city of Berlin like no other. This user friendly guide promises to unlock the hidden treasures of Germany's largest and arguably most fascinating city. With 352 pages of information, travelers will discover many locations worth visiting on their next trip.
Attention to Detail
The author if this guide seems to have explored Berlin with a microscope, accounting for all the detail provided in the guide. The main tourist attractions are of course included, but this guide offers much more. Maps and 3D aerial guides take you to the roads least traveled. Relaxing city walks and explanations or Berlin's unique architecture are just a few of the many wonderful items travelers will encounter in this guide. It offers a huge selection of hotels in all price ranges, and is packed full of activities both for the single traveler and for those experiencing Berlin with their families.
Organization
Those with limited time in Berlin will benefit from this book's expertise. The guide is beautifully organized, allowing those with less time than they would like to take in as much of the city as possible. If the main tourist attractions are all that time allows, detailed explanations of what those are with precise, easy to follow instructions on how to find them are available.
Criticisms
Unfortunately, there is no guide that satisfies the tastes of all travelers. The few criticisms of the guide are that it is lacking somewhat in hostel information, and the fact that there seems to be no full sized city map of Berlin.

Berlin
Edit ThisFrom Publishers Weekly
"This book is a narrative history of
the city of Berlin framed by the two German unifications - Germany's
unification by 'blood and iron' in 1871, and that of 1990, "which of
course was achieved not by war but by the disintegration of the Soviet
empire and the implosion of East Germany." Large (Where Ghosts Walked:
Munich's Road to the Third Reich), professor of history at Montana
State University, has written a lively, rich and engaging work, full of
his passion for his subject, that puts the question of Berlin's future
in the context more..
