Eating Out in Berlin Mitte
Edit ThisBerlin is a city that has turned into a virtual melting pot of other nations. One way this is reflected is in the food that is served. Berlin is full of restaurants serving a mix of local as well as international dishes. In fact, many German dishes are beginning to show some foreign influence with spicy sausages and currywurst stands popping up all over the city. For the traveler, Berlin Mitte Restaurants offer something for nearly every type of palate from the traditional and conservative to the daring.
Foreign Influences
If someone were to take a survey asking travelers where the Doner Kebab originated the vast majority of answers would likely range from Turkey to other Middle Eastern nations. The truth is the Doner Kebab's home is Berlin. The large Turkish influence in Berlin, as well as Germany as a whole, has brought many dish variations to the country. Those who desire Turkish and Middle Easter styles of foods will have more choices than they could hope for while visiting Berlin. The choices do not stop there. Outside of going to India, the best city to get great curry dishes is arguably London. However, Berlin is slowly nipping at London's heals with a huge assortment of Indian style restaurants infiltrating the city. Some will even blend Indian spices with traditional German foods creating a delightful international mixture. Italian and Greek restaurants are also plentiful with some of the best pasta dishes in the world being dished up right in the German capital.
Restaurants
Most travelers will find restaurants in Berlin similar to what they would expect in most western cities. There are however a few notable exceptions. Tipping is not expected but still appreciated. Some restaurants will place a 10 percent service charge on your bill so check it over if you don't feel the service is deserving. You may also find that breakfasts are served quite late in the day, with some establishments still serving well after 4 p.m. in the afternoon. Berlin is the party capital of Germany and the restaurants cater to those who roll out of bed well after the noon hour.
Costs
Berlin has a reputation for being one of the more expensive cities to eat out in. However, its size and the availability of so many restaurants means that there is something to suit nearly every budget. Those looking for luxury food and 5-star service will have no problems locating it. The many fine high-end hotels in the city are just the beginning of where to look. Those on a more moderate budget will be spoiled for choice as well because literally thousands of establishments exist in Berlin. Whether its international or traditional German food your after, Berlin will offer something good that doesn't cost a fortune.

and sit back and people watch. The homoerotic posters and sexy waiters
are also a big draw too.
