Englischer Garten
Edit This
One of the largest municipal parks in the world, the English Garden is
situated between the city center, Schwabing and the Isar river. Its
origins date back to 1789, the year in which the Chinese Tower - today
one of the main attractions and the centerpiece of a thriving beer
garden - was erected . A further attraction, particularly for
photographers, is the Monopteros, a pillared monument set on a hill in
the park in 1838.
This is a great place to take a picnic lunch and recreate with the locals on a nice day. You'll see many locals out playing football, throwing a frisbee, bicycling, etc.
