Seniors traveling in Munich should take advantage of the many sightseeing tours that are available in and outside the city. This is a good way to get acquainted with the city and find attractions that you might have an interest in to go and explore further at another time.

Hop on Hop off Tours have several options in the city of Munich.  They have the visible open air double decker busses that take you around many cities and Munich is one of them. The Munich tour takes you by the Pinakotheken art museum, the Hofbrauhaus, National Theater and Royal Place and ends up in the outdoor markets the Marienplatz and Viktualien Market. These tours are nice because you can hop off the bus and take in a tour of one of the attractions on route and then wait for the bus to return and go on to the next. Olympic Grounds Tours

A different tour is more consumed with the present than the past and goes to the Olympic grounds. You can see an aquarium the BMW museum and Car World, go to the top of the 290 meter high tower and see the view, and end up in Schwabing, the artist’s quarter of Munich. You can also see Palace of Nymphenburg or the summer palace of Bavarian princes and kings. You will not want to miss the garden there.  This tour also starts at 10:00am and the last departure is at 5:00 pm. Costs run about USD $30.00.

Film Studio Tour

There is a tour of the city of Munich and the Bavaria Film City. It goes to the film studios with a guided tour. You will also see the large sites in the city. The tour starts and ends at Karstadt Department Store where you can do a little shopping when it is over.  Cost is about USD $35.00.

Munich by Night

Munich by Night is a wonderful tour that shows you the illumination of the city at night. Pass the lit monuments and fountains.  At the Hofbrauhaus you will be treated to a show and dinner. Progress through the artist quarter of Schwabing and then to the Olympic tower to see the lights at night. The evening ends at a local nightclub for drinks and live music. The price is USD $110.00 but includes everything including one drink at the nightclub.

If you prefer to travel on your own public transportation in Munich is superior. Seniors can find many discounts at different restaurants and hotels. The age to be considered a senior is generally 65 years of age.
