Of all Berchtesgaden Bars and Cafes, Cafe Bar Holzkäfer is definitely an establishment worth visiting. The bar is located on Buchenhöhe Street, very close to the Berchtesgaden Asthma Treatment Center. It is opened every day (except Tuesday) from 2 p.m. and works up to the late evening hours. The place is ideal for having a snack in the afternoon or a drink in the evening.

The Atmosphere

Café Bar Holzkäfer has a really warm and friendly atmosphere that attracts the attention of many tourists and locals. The bar is situated inside a lovely mountain hut. Wooden walls and posts, stone floor, a fireplace and many traditional decorations, create a feeling for authentic Bavarian folklore among the visitors. During the summer, you can sit at a little table on the bar's beautiful terrace, surrounded by many lovely flowers and having the chance to admire some breath-taking mountain views. The terrace gives you the chance to enjoy some fascinating summer sunsets. Unlikely for a typical bar in the mountain, Café Bar Holzkäfer is equipped with an excellent baby-changing room.

The Menu

Cafe Bar Holzkäfer serves some excellent wine, beer and schnapps (a strong local alcohol), which are an excellent choice for an evening drink. In the afternoon, you can try some well-prepared tea or coffee. To complement them, you should certainly try one of the delicious home-made cakes. Some great ice specialties are available in the summer as well.
