Getting Around in Ulm

Edit This

Don't let the size of Ulm fool you, the infrastructure of Ulm Transportation is not only well developed but also well connected with other cities in Germany and other European countries. Here are some tips on getting around Ulm.

Tips for Students and Young Adults

People under 25 and students of any education level can save money in public transportation by showing an identification card that proves that they are under 25 or that they are current students. Foreign student cards may or may not be accepted so it is a good idea to apply for a membership card of the Hostelling International network. Having this special card will give you guaranteed access to the lower student rates for passes for the bus and train.

Purchase Weekly or Monthly Passes

If you're planning to stay for a couple of weeks or months in Ulm and you're planning to use the bus and train, it is recommended to buy a weekly or monthly pass. The logic is simple: a weekly pass is cheaper than buying a daily pass for the day and a monthly pass is cheaper than buying a daily pass for a month.

Nearby Cities

The bus and train system of Ulm has direct connections with the neighboring cities of Munich and Stuttgart. You can easily plan a day trip to either city for some great shopping or sightseeing. Just make sure to check the schedule at the bus or train station nearest you.

Driving Around Ulm

Parking is strictly enforced by the local police and not knowing the language is not a valid excuse. You will still get a fine if you're parked incorrectly.
