Ducal Palace

Edit This

(Called "Karlsruher Schloss") The former residence of the Dukes of Baden was built over the period 1749-1781.  Destroyed in World War II, the palace was rebuilt, but the original interiors were not restored.  The palace now houses the excellent Badisches Landesmuseum, which houses a collection of antiquities as well as decorative arts, sculpture, porcelain, and furniture from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Municipal Park

x

Karlsruhe is a green city. Where else can you find such a splendid Municipal Park with an attractive zoo between the railway station and the city centre? It is worth spending a day in this city just for the parks alone. Beautiful parks with old trees, well-tended lawns and borders, and the nearby forests lend this city its expansive, tidy apperance.

Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM)

Edit This

The ZKM is said to be Europe's leading Museum for media art.

Check for the ever-changing temporary exhibitions, which are always worth exploring, although not always cheap. But plenty of discounts apply, and hardly was a visitor disappointed.

Also, there is a permanent exhibition which features the history of media art among other things.

It's a touch&see kind of museum: Lot's of interaction, like becoming part of an art piece by being filmed and being copied live into the video art etc. This also makes it a family museum: Even little kids will more..
