There are plenty of good locations for dining in or eating out. In most restaurants you can just walk in, but on Saturday or Sunday night reservations may be helpful.

A major part of restaurants you will find in Old Town, or adjacent to popular sights. People say those are the more expensive places, which is true in part. If you are used to free refill of drinks, be warned that this is very uncommon in Heidelberg. For prices please check the listings at the restaurant's entrance. In most cases you will find a detailed menue outside the door you enter.

A great restaurant for the local cuisine. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get too. If you are feeling daring, try Heidelberg's strongest beer.

Alte Münz

The "Alte Münz" is also known as the house of the 101 Schnitzel. And it is true they have 101 different Schnitzel on the menu. From the "normal" Schnitzel with mushroom gravy to creations with chocolate or raspberry gravy...there is a Schnitzel for everyone. For a little surcharge you can exchange the Schnitzel to a rump stake. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are bigand come with a side salat. Reservations are recommended espacially in the evening because there are only 10 tables.

Wirtshaus zum Spreissel

Very tasty and fresh local food. The restauarant has avery extensive menu and the portions are well sized. Most of the ingredients the chef buys himself in the Alsace. The prices are not on the low side but it is worth it.
