Sights in Gori
Edit ThisStalin Museum
Edit ThisThe Stalin Museum is built around the two room house where Stalin was born and grew up; the slums around the little house have been cleared and replaced by a majestic building housing many photos, correspondence and personal belongings of the dictator. A number of gifts from countries all over the world are also on display. Entrance is US$ 1. The ticket salesperson doubles as a souvenir seller, trying to push all kinds of memorabilia on you. A guided tour is also available.
Outside you can see the train that Stalin used to travel within the Soviet Union, but you can't go more..

Caves at Uplistske
Edit ThisThe caves at Uplistske are a short drive outside of downtown
Gori. The village of caves are built into the sandstone and
people lived in these caves until as recent as the 1930s. The
architecture was amazing. There were influences from other
cultures, especially Roman. There were small and large caves, a
church, and a main street up on the side of the hill. It was
quite a sight, and the tourguides there were really insightful, you
can't really go without them.

Goris-Tsikhe Fortress
Edit ThisThis fortress sits on top of a hill overlooking the city and existed in ancient times; Pompey is though to have taken the fort in 65 BC. The current structure mainly dates from the Middle Ages. You can climb up and overlook the valley. Most of the building inside the walls were destroyed in the 1920 earth quake.
