Take a Cruise to the Historical Turkish City of Trabzon

Thinking of the different Georgia cruises available, you should consider visiting the city of Batumi and taking a ship to the historical Turkish city of Trabzon. This is one of the best cruise options available in Georgia. You will be able to admire the stunning waters of the Black Sea and enjoy many interesting sights in both cities.

Batumi

Although quite small, the harbor of Batumi is the biggest harbor in all of Georgia. Many passenger ships dock at and start their cruises from here. The city is small, too, but it still offers some intriguing sights before leaving for Trabzon. One of them is the Batumi Archeological Museum, showing unique artifacts dating from the Bronze Ages to medieval times. The museum has free admission. Another must-see is the fascinating Batumi Botanical Garden.

Trabzon

The Trabzon harbor is located about 160 kilometers southwest of Batumi. Trabzon is a much bigger city and offers much more tourist attractions. Most notable is the Hagia Sophia, a former Byzantine church and later a Turkish mosque, built in the 13th century. Today it functions as a museum. Another interesting sight is the Trabzon Museum, located right in the center of the city, inside the marvelous Kostaki mansion. It displays archaeological and cultural artifacts, and the original interior of the mansion has been preserved.
