Eating Out in Rennes

The area of Rennes has very interesting architectural sights and medieval buildings. People travel to Rennes to enjoy these sights, visit museums and take part of the city's various festivals. Restaurants here vary from place to place and for the most part are relatively inexpensive. That being said there are still some good fine dining options to choose from and there is a wide selection of great restaurants and bars nestled all around the city. You’ll find a great mix of varieties of restaurants and it’s common to find restaurants serving foods of many nationalities in different areas.
Fine Dining
Though there are more bars and middle ranged restaurants around the area you can find a few good fine dining places. L'Auberge St-Sauveur is one of these. The restaurant is a very romantic and classic setting with a medieval cathedral ambience. They serve a variety of dishes with a dinner and lunch menu. It is cheaper to dine her for lunch with an average price of $20 meals. Dinner is a little more expensive at $50 or more. Le Chouin is a fish restaurant that serves a variety of fresh fish options. They are open for lunch and dinner and have set priced menus.
Less Expensive Dining Options
Le Maquis is a good choice for dining at a less expensive price. This is an African restaurant that serves several different dishes of African inspiration such as Senegalese marinated chicken and Cameroonian beef stew. The average price here is about $18 or so for dinner. La Navira is another choice. This is a French restaurant with a dinner menu that will cost you around $40. It has simple menu choices with outdoor seating on pedestrian alley.
Other Dining
If you’re looking you can find a lot of interesting restaurants in Rennes. Other than African cuisine mentioned earlier there is also Mrs. Dalloway. This is an English style tea room that serves light options with tea. You can get teacakes and savory tarts along with salads and other tea time dishes. It’s open from noon to six in the afternoon for early afternoon light meals. Another interesting restaurant in Rennes is Le Parc a Moules which is a fresh fish restaurant. It’s open for lunch and dinner with a menu of different fish options. What really makes this place interesting is that they serve mussels 32 different ways.
