Beaches in Nantes

Pornic Beach
Pornic Beach is located by the Atlantic coast near Nante. Renoir made it familiar with his painting, “The Beach at Pornic”. Beach goers can access it by train. The beach is famous for the water cures that people used during the 18th and 19th centuries. People still go to Pornic to experience the “Cure”. In addition, this beach is less of a resort town and has more of hometown feel. There are a number of restaurants by the beach for people to enjoy a meal between swims. Visitors can take the Smugglers’ Trail to walk along the beach. They will a get fabulous view of the beach.
La Baule
La Baule is located by Nante. The beach is considered a living museum to the seaside living and resorts. Taking a walk along the shoreline, the visitors can admire the sea side villas that have been constructed on the beach. On the beach, travelers will find a sea-water spa. There is also a casino for swimmers with a gambling streak. This place is studied by ecologists due to the salt marches. Biodiversity groups like to make pilgrims here. There are bike trails for cyclists and clear, gentle water for swimmers. Le Baule provides a number of family oriented activities such as fishing and sailing. It is not unusual for patrons walking the beach to see sail boats walking on the ways.
Saint-Nazaire
Saint-Nazaire is a beach with a historic twist. Normandy beaches are
famous for the D-Day invasion, but Saint-Nazaire adds something
different. In addition to a beautiful coast line, this was the site of
construction for the Queen Mary II and other French ocean liners. The
museum is also home to the French submarine Espadon. This submarine was
jewel of the French fleet for over 25 years. People looking for a stroll
can walk down the former customer officer’s pathway. It trails the
coastline giving a beautiful view of the ocean. There are number of
little coves in the beach that allow for privacy for couples. The
beaches are family friendly, and it is not uncommon to see small
children with their parents playing in the waves.
