Annot is a small town with more than its share of places to stay as it is in perhaps the best position on the scenic Train des Pignes line. The mountains immediately the far side of the railway are littered, in their lower reaches by massive –meaning MASSIVE – boulders called Grès. There is an excellent walk, short but quite thrilling between the Grès and any number of walks can be started from Annot, or started from stations higher up the line and finished at Annot.

 

There is a most fascinating and interesting old town above the modern area, where there are treats for the camera at every building.
