The Lac des Bouillouses (Bollosa in Catalan) and its surroundings is a site naturel classé (a classified natural site) since 1976. Since the 1980s, it has become a frequently visited summer destination.

The lake provides relatively easy access to the Pic Carlit, the local highest peak, very popular with trekkers (randonneurs), as well as the Pic Péric.
