In winter it's great for skiing, with a sun a bit hotter than in the Alpes and snow just as white. In summer it's great for hiking and other outdoor activities. The Pic du Midi is the highest mountain, with great trekking and skiing opportunities. Other famous resorts include Luz Ardiden and Val Louron.
If you are not able to hike, bike, ski or walk, head for Lourdes the major tourist city in the departement. Since the virgin Mary appeared to a few peasant gilrs here, miracles have been plenty...
