Shopping in Toulouse
Edit ThisSince traveling goes hand-in-hand with souvenir buying, you cannot miss out the must-haves from these Toulouse Shopping centers. From department stores to the many flea markets around the city, Toulouse is a great place where you can enjoy purchasing European clothes, shoes, and customary foods and specialties for memories’ sake.
Galeries Lafayette
Being an elegant department store, the Galeries Lafayette can be found in the shopping district of the Old Town, also known as Place du Capitol. Here you can buy branded clothes from the boutiques of top French designers. You can also go shopping for jewelry, perfumes, plates, cups, and other household bits and pieces to serve as your memorabilia of Toulouse.
Toulouse Flea Markets
Several flea markets are open on Wednesdays and Sundays. The Place du Capitol is filled up with markets that are only available on Wednesdays. These bazaars sell various items including French clothing and household goods. Some of them vend products that were imported from countries of other continents, such as Asia, South America, and Africa. On Sundays, the market of Place Saint-Aubin drives in many tourists to buy souvenir items. The paths at the basilica of San-Aubin are congested because of the many people buying traditional foods and delicacies, home equipment, and authentic accessories.
St. Sernin Market
Located in the Old Town, the Sernin Church is the haven of the famous St. Sernin Market. This market sells all kinds of stuff, including clothes, accessories, jewelry, antiques, and even junk objects. This is one of the good places in Toulouse where bargaining is very welcome. All though you will definitely see here the souvenir you are looking for, the market is only available on a weekly basis, so you need to buy the item you want as immediately as possible. Otherwise, someone else might get it before you do because of the many people shopping in the area.
Rue de Rome
Rue de Rome is the most popular area in Toulouse where you can buy shoes and clothes from different stores. Being the main shopping street, it is one of the very few places where second-hand jewelries are on sale. Here you can also find unique designer clothes from boutiques.
La Maison de la Violette
The violet, Toulouse’s traditional flower, is the main theme of La Maison de la Violette. This is a specialty store where you can buy everything created from violet, including teas, candles, soaps, and even sweets.
