Things to do in Pezenas
Edit This
This Pezenas Things to Do guide will help you make the best of your vacation time when visiting Pezenas.
Shopping
You can go to the Marche du Samedi, held every Saturday. This market is held on the same site as the Medieval fairs were. Here you can buy local and traditional French products, such as fresh cheeses, oysters, spices and aromatic plants, pastries, ham and sausages, pates and sweets. You can also find amazing locally made potteries.
Guided tours
The tourism board offers different guided tours to suit your needs. For approximately 5 €, you can take a historic tour of the city center, follow the Moliere tour or take a specialty tasting tour.
Wine tasting
This area boasts several "chateaux" or wine estates. Many offer tours of the estate and grounds as well as a visit to the wine cellars and wine tasting. Montpezat is one of the most popular. This "chateau" still uses the traditional methods passed down from generations of winemakers. They offer most of their wines for sale.
Adventure
If you would like to experience adventure and test your agility, balance and endurance, you must visit La Foret d'Acrobate. They offer different courses accessible to everyone where you can try the zipline, crawl through suspended tubes, walk on different types of bridges, such as a rope bridge, a suspended bridge and a zig zag bridge, swing on ropes like Tarzan, jump off a cliff into a huge net or maneuver a mobile platform down a series of ropes. They also offer a course for more athletic people. You can also go canoeing, kayaking or rafting, rock climbing and they also offer an aquatic course.
Horseback riding
If you would like to explore the area on horseback, Pezenas boasts several stables, such as Centre Equestre Saint Mathieu and Centre Equestre Le Clos St Pierre. They both offer equestrian paths and some rides into the outskirts of town. Les Attelages du Picpoul offers horse drawn buggy rides through the village and its surroundings, and they also offer visits to "chateau" complete with wine tastings.
Stroll through town
Pezenas is best seen on foot. The small meandering cobblestone streets are perfect for a leisurely walk, giving you the perfect view of the centuries old houses and buildings. You should stop by La Maison Consulaire, where the Languedoc State meetings were held until the middle of the 17th century. The old Penitents Noirs chapel was transformed into a theater in the 19th century and is worth a look, and so is the old Ursulines Convent, where you can view antique objects and furniture.
