Museums in Pezenas
Edit ThisPézenas is a little but beautiful town located in Southern France,
better known for Moliere's stay there when he was just 25 years old.
Modern Pézenas has about 115 monuments or buildings listed as
historical monuments by the French Ministry of Culture. Some of the
most important museums that are extremely recommended are:
Musée de Vulliod Saint-Germain
Located at 3, rue Albert-Paul Alliés, Pézenas, this museum features
pieces related to the decorative arts, religion and history of the
Pézenas village and its surroundings. The collections hosted in it
range from purely religious to decorative arts such as paintings,
sculpture and textiles. It also has a special room dedicated to Moliere
and a small collection of military weapons. The museum opens daily from
June to August from 10:00 am to noon, and from 3 pm to 7 pm. During winter months the museum is open every day from 10 am till 5 pm except on Sundays and
Mondays. The museum remains closed every year on December 25, January
1st and on Mardi Gras.
The Door Museum
This museum is particularly fun and different from most museums that people tend to visit while in Pézenas. The Door Museum opened in 1993, and hosts a collection of doors from around the Pézenas region and France. The doors date from the 15th to the 20th century. This museum features a wide selection of doors made from different materials, such as wood or iron, and shows the great diversity, imagination, colors and care used to manufacture them. It opens daily from 10 am until noon, and from 2 pm until 5 pm, except on Mondays, and it's free!
