Nightlife and Entertainment in NiceEdit This
Nice nightlife is vibrant and full of options. There is something for all budgets and tastes. Here are some venues you may want to look into:
Old Town vs. Ocean
Vieux Nice, or the old town, is the hub for bars and clubs. Wayne’s is one of the most popular stops for visitors under 30. The bar is frequented by an international crowd. British Bands often play at this pub. Call (33) 493-134699 for information about performances. An upscale option in this part of town is L’Odace. Patrons compare it to Paris’ Buddah Bar. It too has Asian-inspired décor and similar beats. A chic crowd hits the dance floor at this large club. If you want to try something outside the old town, head to La Suite, an ocean-front venue. It’s pricey, but if you like international club music and want to indulge in inventive cocktails; this is the place for you.
Two bars in Vieux Nice that are loved by locals are Le Bar des Oiseaux and the Blue Whales. Le Bar des Oiseaux (5 Rue St. Vincent), is not easy to find. However, it’s worth your trouble if you like jazz. Don’t expect amazing service or a trendy setting. This place is about a grabbing a good bite and enjoying great music.
In comparison to European hot spots like Barcelona, Nice nightlife ends on the early side. That’s why locals and visitors alike enjoy the Blue Whales. It’s not far from Wayne’s. This place is an after-hours bar that hosts live bands. It’s a fun way to end a long night out. Both places are easy on your pocket.
Elegant Night Out
For an elegant alternative to pubs and clubs, try the Nice Opera House. Front and center tickets for the ballet go for $115 dollars. Call (33) 492-174000 for information about their programs. You can also try your luck at Casino Palais de la Mediterranée. This casino is part of a 4-star hotel on Promenade des Anglais.
For a unique experience, visit Bar le Relais, in Hôtel Negresco. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and was built in 1912. It, too, faces the ocean and is located along Promenade des Anglais. The bar features piano players every night. It has a rare collection of books, a museum-worthy tapestry and valuable paintings. If you don’t mind the expense, drop by this English-style bar and experience Nice with style.
