Montaigu castle

Edit This

The Montaigu Castle was originally an elegant country mansion, built in 1757 for Bon Prévost, Lorraine's main tax-officer. It was greatly transformed from 1865 on by Maxime, Marques of Vaugiraud before being bought in 1921 by Monsieur Edouard Salin, ironmaster, archeologist and founder of the Museum of the History of Iron and the laboratory of the archeology of metals. After being damaged by fire the building was redesigned. The collections exhibited in the mansion are the expression of the owner's eclectic tastes and they are to be found exactly as they were at his death in more..
