Eating Out in Metz

Nestled all around the beautiful buildings of Metz are great restaurants. Whether you’re in the mood for traditional French food or Italian inspired cuisine, it will be somewhere within the city of Metz.
Cafes
Sidewalk cafes are situated all around the city. Here you can find reasonably priced teas and coffees with pastries in the morning. They also usually have good lunch and dinner selections depending on what they specialize in. Be careful though, because sometimes Cafés and bars can be synonymous and if you’re with the family looking for a good place to stop for a French croissant, you might be stopping for a quick beer instead.
Budget Friendly Restaurants
There are a wide variety of places to eat in Metz at a low price. They may not be a classic French restaurant but you can find some local places or other national cuisines. Fondues seem to be rather popular in France. One place to go for a good fondue is Le Bouche a Orielle. They specialize in cheese fondues that are shared at a table. For Dessert you can also get a delicious chocolate fondue. As a rule, fondue places are usually great for romantic dinners since you are forced to share your meal with another but that shouldn’t discourage families from dining here. Other places to eat when on a budget include chez Branco and Sweet.
High End and Expensive Restaurants
Most of the mid-level or high end restaurants in Metz are French restaurants that serve local foods. You’ll be spending anywhere from $25 to $100 for a meal but it will be very authentic and usually delicious. These kinds of restaurants are common in Metz and if you search enough you might be able to find one that will fit your price range. One of the more expensive selections is L’Ecluse. This is a modern high end restaurant that you’ll be spending anywhere from $40 to $100 for a plate. But you’ll find the best of traditional French foods like Tempura Lobster and Crème Brule. Another good French restaurant to visit at a slightly less expensive price is L’Etude. This is another modern restaurant serving a variety of French dishes. The menus changes often so depending on the season the menu will have different delicacies to offer. Other restaurants you might visit are La Toquet, L’Alloyau, Le Jardin d’Adam and L’Angelus.
