Eating Out in Ajaccio

Ajaccio is located on the French island of Corsica. Like most islands, seafood is a staple here. You can get any number of fish or shellfish meals here including lobster or Pandora. They even have a specialty of dried mullet roe known as Corsica Caviar. There are many French cheeses and a lot of honey that is used in their cooking. Eating here can be more of an experience and a pleasure than a necessity.

Palm Beach

This restaurant is very true to local roots. It is highly acclaimed as being one of the best restaurants in the area with the finest of Corsica foods. The layout of the restaurant is very romantic with beautiful views of the ocean and the city. The restaurant is right on the beach and the crashing waves can almost touch you as you dine. The interior is very modern and artistic adding to your meal. Food here is generally local using local ingredients and flavors. Seafood is wonderful here along with their other fantastic dishes. Prices here are around $80 to $120 but every penny is definitely worth it.

This is another very well liked restaurant in the area. This is a mid-priced restaurant. It’s an interesting place with a rustic sort of feeling to it. The family who owns it recreated their old country restaurant in the city with wooden tables, a water pump and clothes line. It’s a cute concept and the food is well received. They once again cook purely Corsica foods but with a more family feel to it.

Le Temps des Oliviers

This is a very highly recommended Italian restaurant. It’s in and around the market section of the city in a busy area. This restaurant seems to be a little more relaxed with modern seating and a bar. It’s a quaint little bistro like atmosphere that serves Italian dishes like pasta, risotto and pizza. Menus are priced at around $30 and a childrens menu for even less. Pizzas can be eat in or take away but with such a charming atmosphere why wouldn’t you want to stay and eat?
