Chambord Travel Guide

Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and see
Chambord is probably the second most famous and second most visited chateau of France after Versailles. Begun in 1519 the chateau is square shaped with the keep situated on the inside forming part of the northern wall. Inside the keep a double turn spiral staircase leads up to the different floors and the terrace.

The castle is located in the largest enclosed forest park of Europe. A national hunting reserve it is home to abundant wild fauna. Different footpaths are open to the public.

Top priorities for your visit are the double turn spiral stair case - it's hard to miss anyway, the second floor barrel-vault coffered ceilings, the terrace, the appartment of Louis XIV and the suite of Francois I.
