Edit ThisThe first castle in Blois was built in the 10th century, but the oldest remains date back to the 13th century. The Salle des Etats was constructed by the Chatillon family. Most of what you see now is from the 16th century, when Louis XII and Francois I built the north-east and north-west wings. The south-west wing was built in 1635.
In 1498, Louis XII, who was born in Blois, became king of France. He immediately started working this castle which he called home, with the help of the architect Colin Biart. The east wing he built shows influences from both late gothic more..

Edit ThisThe Maison de la Magie was dedicated to Houdin - whom Houdini was named after - a famous French magician, diplomat and inventor. Even if you don't go in, it is worthwhile to wait outside until the dragon comes out of the window.
