Angers Travel Guide
Edit This The best resource for sights, hotels, restaurants, bars, what to do and seeAngers is located on the banks of the Maine river just before it flows into the Loire, roughly speaking halfway between
Tours and
Nantes. It is a city with a long history and many monuments to prove it. The famous medieval fortress, the Château of Roi René, is one of the major highlights but there are many more interesting sights in town.
The city is now the capital of Anjou and is the most important urban centre of the area. For lovers of tapestry Angers is a must see. In the city you will find the treasure-house of the tapestries of the Apocalypse (XIVth century) and the 'Song of the World' by Jean Lurçat. Since 1960 it has deployed intense activity centering on contemporary tapestry.
