The Museum of Gallo-Roman Civilization was inaugurated on November 15, 1975. The idea of constructing an archeological museum dates back to 1957 when a large part of the Gallo-Roman collection, previously housed at Palais Saint Pierre (Fine Arts Museum), was transferred to a small building on the site of the antique theaters of Fourvière. Edit ThisSuccessor to the Museum of Art and Industry created by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce in 1864, the Textile Museum has, since 1946, made its home in the 17th century Villeroy Mansion.
