Saint Clair les Halles is a market place offering cheeses and cooked meats, fruits and vegetables as well as fresh breads and pastries. The market also offers quaint cafes and street vendors.
Train Ride
Chemin de Fer de la Mure is a former coal train that winds its way between the mountains and high above the valleys and lakes. The ride lasts about 2 hours and takes you over 142 bridges, 18 tunnels and takes you to La Mure Station, where you can explore the reproduction of a genuine anthracite mine. The turns and bridges of this ride are not for the faint of heart but the children will love the experience.
La Bastille
This is the most popular attraction in Grenoble. It is a series of fortifications and ramparts high in the mountains and offers an amazing overview of the town and the area. To get there, you must ride in the cable car "Les Bulles".
Horloge Solaire
This reflective sun dial was built in 1673 and is still perfectly accurate today. It covers 100 square meters. The sun reflects off a mirror in a window and forms a spot indicating the solar time, the month and the zodiac sign. There is no other sundial of this size in the world.
Musee Bayard
This museum is located in the oldest part of the Chateau Bayard, which was built in 1404. There are 4 themes: the history of the castle, the life of Knight Bayard, the Italian wars and the Knights of France. This visit will fire up the imagination of children as they discover Medieval life.
Musee de Bressieux
This museum is located next to a 13th century pink brick chateau and bears witness to human settlement dating as far back as 2300 B.C. Using models and artifacts dug up during excavations, it recreates the life of a military fortress.
