Bars and Cafes in Grenoble
Edit ThisGrenoble bars and cafes have that distinctive authentic French flair. Enjoy an aperitif in the late afternoon at an outdoor table or take in the city lights from a bar or cafe after nightfall. If you want to rest your weary feet after a day of touring the city, head to one of these bars and cafes:
Cafe Le Dix Vins
Cafe Le Dix Vins (literally "the ten wines cafe"), located at 2 Avenue Felix Viallet, is a French bistro with a sizable bar section and an outdoor patio. As the name implies, there's a full wine list. Food offerings for the cafe include lemon tart, chocolate mousse and lavender French toast (it's better than it sounds). There's a full restaurant menu with offerings such as seafood and steak, and the restaurant section of the bistro is decorated in an especially romantic pale pink and red color theme. Prices range from €11 to €24, but most of the cafe offerings are on the cheaper end of the scale.
Bar Phenomen
Travelers who appreciate urban art and youngsters looking for an upscale place to get a drink may enjoy the Bar Phenomen, which is located at 4 Rue Vauban. This small, eclectic bar is elegantly furnished and tastefully decorated with urban art. The drink list includes wines, shooters and flambes. The tastiest shooter flavors include chocolate, kiwi and banana. Prices start at only €2 per shooter or €3,50 per flambe.
Librarie Cafe Decitre
Located at 9-11 Grande Rue, the Librarie Cafe Decitre is a combination bookstore and cafe that bibliophiles and coffee lovers alike will enjoy. The cafe is located near the beautiful Isere River and makes a perfect spot to rest after touring the city. Enjoy viewing the talent of local artists inside the cafe as you browse through a new book release or sit outside. Offerings include the traditional book cafe menu, such as coffee, pastries and teas. Prices are under €9.
Jack Juliard
At 8 Place Championnet is Jack Juliard, a cafe and tea room with a vast terrace for outdoor dining. The Jack Juliard tea house has a fairly attractive view of the city and a small outdoor park. Besides tea and coffee, you can get a number of pastries and bakery offerings at Jack Juliard. The most renowned offerings are the fruit mousse, the chocolate canelle and the creme caramel supreme. In the summer, you can get ice cream as well. Prices range from €3 to €9.
