Tampere is a city located in the southern portion of Finland between 2 lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjävi. The city was given the nickname "Manchester of Finland" due to it having been the industrial capital of the country. With 2 universities and 3 poly-technical institutes, it is no surprise that technology is an important industry for Tampere.  Many Finnish writers come from Tampere, especially those depicting the life styles of the working class. Tampere is not a huge city, so most sites are within walking distance from your accommodation.
