You can make economical one-day trips around southern Finland by a local train. Helsinki is an expensive city to stay. Out of Helsinki there are economical alternatives. Take a train and stay overnigt in a traditoinal Finnish Inn. There are not many Inns left, but if you find one, you will enjoy specially if you like to sleep in historical houses.

Helsinki - Myllykoski

You can get ticket from Helsinki Railwaystation. There is a local train in the morning and another train in the evening back to Helsinki. You can also stay overnight at a traditional and economical Finnish Inn & Internet Cafe Rauhala at Myllykoski Railway Station.

From Myllykoski there are good connections also to Kouvola 10 min and Kotka 30 min.
