Gasadalur is reached from Bour [qv] by the latest tunnel to be built on the Faroes, within the last four years. It is hard to envisage life there before the tunel when the post had to be brought over the montain and most supplies were obtained by boat.
Presumably the only vehicle before the tunnel was an old tractor taken by ship but it is remarkable how quickly the residents have transferred to a car economy with a vehicle outside practically every house.
A short walk towards the clifs provides splendid views of puffins and other seabirds. The views of Tindholmur and stacks are beyond praise.
