We were Americans living in Flensburg, Germany stationed on the Exchange Program of the German Navy. My favorite Danish town was Tonder. It's charming! There is a tiny lace-making supply shop there and when the owner found out I am American, she pulled out a drawer with her American customers' addresses. She asked me if I knew Sally Jones in Cincinnati!

Our favorite place to eat was the Hojkro which has been in existence since if I remember correctly the 1600's. Great food and ambiance.

The Danes are wonderful people and every chance I had I took trips across the border. Best butter in the world!
