This short Fredrikshavn Travel Guide will provide you with the basic information that you need to have to plan your vacation. Although Fredrikshavn is not one of the larger tourist towns of Denmark it still has plenty to offer people who decide to visit.

Getting There and Around

The easiest way to get to Fredrikshavn is by ferry, mainly because Fredrikshavn is a port town. To get there by ferry you are looking to spend three to four hours reaching the port, but it all depends on where you are coming in from. You can also reach the town by train, which departs hourly from several locations. Once in town public transportation, including taxis and buses, is going to be your best choice for getting around town. You can also walk to many of your destinations if you don’t mind a bit of exercise.

Accommodations

Hotels in the port town vary in price, but most of them provide you with a clean room. If you are more budget-minded you are better off booking a room with the Park Hotel, where room prices average $88 a night, but you can easily walk to many different locations. If you have a bit more to spend the Scandic Stena Line Frederikshavn is recommended as the hotel even offers you an organic breakfast buffet.

Eating Out

You can find restaurants located all over town that feature a variety of different cuisines. If you are looking for a great restaurant that serves French cuisine, you can try out Gra-Ander, which is located inside the Hotel Jutlandia. Prices start around $32 for a two-course meal. If you want Mexican or Italian, try out Bacchus located in the town. Prices range from $14 to $31 for a fixed price dinner, but you can also simply order a main course.

Sights and Attractions

Being a port town, one of the main attractions is the coast where you can enjoy swimming in the ocean or many other types of water sports. You can also take part in walks along the beach. If history is more to your liking, make sure you check out the Bangsbro Museum or the Frederikshavn Shipyard.

Nightlife

In the town of Fredrikshavn, you are not going to find nightclubs or noisy bars, but that doesn’t mean there is a lack of nightlife. All this means is that the nightlife in this port town is on a quieter scale than in other areas. One of the most notable nighttime hot spots is the John Bull Pub. You can also find other bars and pubs inside of the local hotels.
