Shopping in Billund
Edit ThisBillund is synonymous with Legoland and toy shopping, however for visitors who care to look beyond the Lego products there are a couple of pedestrian shopping markets and swanky stores offering traditional wares and designer merchandise. The Billund shopping guide offers visitors helpful information on sourcing the right stuff from the markets of this attractive Danish toy town.
Legoland
Billund is undoubtedly about Legoland and much as the town tries, it is hard to let go of the overbearing influence of the entertainment district. The flood of stores found inside Legoland is enough to keep shoppers occupied for hours. There are interesting shops selling an impressive collection of LEGO merchandise and souvenirs. Almost all tourists who come here pick up the Lego’s brick box. Apart from the fantastic toys and other souvenirs, visitors can also buy items from the Lego clothing label.
Kolding
For shoppers who have had enough of Legoland, Kolding is a nice shopping street to buy everything from chic high street apparel to regional specialties. There is also a huge mall in the area, housing stores and boutiques of international high fashion brands.
Vejle
Vejle, located at approximately 30 km to the east of the city, features a wide array of stores, cafes and restaurants to indulge visitors in a unique shopping and eating bonanza. There are several shopping streets tucked away in the by lanes of this region and they sell almost anything from fresh local produce, meat and flowers to traditional fabric, accessories, handicrafts and electronics. The items are available for a steal and it’s a norm to reduce the price by at least 50 percent of the rate quoted by the merchant.
If you want to pick up the finest Danish beer that money can buy, head to the Havens Vin Og Tobakshus. The Havnegade 37 located-shop stocks the most extensive collection of Denmark’s special beer.
Billund International Airport
The Billund International Airport boasts of a number of stores where tourists can buy a wide range of items from local handicrafts, fabrics and watches to books, cigars and other handy everyday items. There is also a good collection of toy shops selling the town’s famous Lego merchandise.
Though Legoland has transformed Billund from virtual anonymity to a famous tourist hotspot, there are several other shopping markets and districts, where tourists can find great bargain buys.
