Givskud Zoo
The Givskud Zoo is a refreshing addition to Billund Day Trips Intro. It is located roughly 20 minutes away from Billund in Give, Denmark and is accessible by taxi or personal vehicle. The zoo is home to hundreds of animals from around the world. Visitors can experience all the adventure that the park has to offer in several different ways. If a personal vehicle is available to zoo guests, they can actually drive through specific scenic paths and experience exhibits up close. A guided tour on the zoo's safari bus is additionally available. This tour takes guests through the savannah and lion exhibits. Walking through the park is also a wonderful way to truly see all the zoo has to offer. Admission to the Givskud Zoo is $30 per person. This day trip will last several hours and is ideal for families.
Give-Egnens Museum
The Give-Egnens Museum is located in Give, Denmark and is a short 20-minute drive from your Billund accommodations. It offers visitors a glimpse of what life was like in old world Denmark. The heritage museum tells the story of how local farmers and craftspeople made their living. Exhibits include a blacksmith section, an old farm kitchen complete with antique utensils, and a classroom. The museum is actually built on a former moorland farm and has the original farmhouse and barn. The museum has activities for children and it is wheelchair accessible. Admission for the day is about $5 and 3 or 4 hours should be allotted for this addition to Billund Day Trips Intro.
Museet Pa Koldinghus
Museet Pa Koldinghus is located in Kolding, which is only a 50-minute drive from Billund. For centuries it was one of Denmark's most important castles. It was founded in the 1200s, but was tragically burnt down in the early 1800s. After standing as a romantic ruin for years, it was restored to all its beauty and has become a treasure of Denmark once again. The castle has permanent collections of Danish fine art and silver and gold pieces. Each room in the castle is breathtaking. From the most delicate of items to the whole castle itself, Museet Pa Koldinghus is a mere treat. The castle is open 7 days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free for children 17 and under. Adults tickets cost about $15 per person and ticket sales stop 30 minutes prior to closing.
