Visit the Old Town

One of the first things you will want to do when you arrive here in Split is to go visit the Old Town. At the Old Town, you will be able to see the famous Rivarnica Fish Market, the ancient Roman Palace, and the Stari Pazar. Everything about this quiet little Old Town is old and rustic, except of course the vibrant and friendly people. You might want to carry your digital camera to take some beautiful pictures of the Old Town.

Picnic at Ba�vice Beach

A day at the beach is highly recommended while visiting Split, and BaÄ�vice Beach is one of the best places to enjoy a beach picnic. The beach features both white sand and a rocky promenade, as well as crystal clear turquoise water. A family picnic at this beach will give you a chance to enjoy a day playing with your kids, diving, snorkeling, and jet skiing. There are several cafés and restaurants at the beach, so you don’t have to worry about what to eat. BaÄ�vice Beach has a kid-friendly leisure park as well as facilities for disabled people.

Visit Marjan Hill

If you love nature, you will want to visit Marjan Hill. This is a low mountain on the cape of Split. The hill is covered with pine trees, and is surrounded by the sea and the city. This is one of the most popular sights in Split. Marjan Hill offers an excellent view of the sea and the city below.

Tour Diocletian's Palace

Diocletian’s Palace is an historic building in Split, and belongs to UNESCO's series of World Heritage Sites. The palace reflects the design of a military camp and a posh villa. This well preserved palace has 4 colossal gates named Porta Aurea, Porta Argenta, Porta Ferrea, and Porta Aenea. You will also like to take a look at the subterranean part of the palace, which features basement rooms, relics, and artifacts like an ancient wine press and a bust of Diocletian.

See St. Domnius Cathedral

St. Domnius Cathedral is an historic church located in the center center of Split. It was formerly known as Diocletian’s Tomb, and later it was transformed into a church. The carvings and art at the church date back to the 14th century, and are well worth seeing. Another interesting part of the church are the portraits of those who tortured the early Christians.
